GMA Primetime Queen Marian Rivera returns to work three months after giving birth to her and husband Dingdong Dantes’ first child, Maria Letizia.
The 31- year- old actress starts off with an appearance on “Sunday PinaSaya” this weekend.
“Na- miss ko ( gampanan) si Judge MD…
at the same time namiss ko ’ yung mga ka-trabaho ko ru’n,” she said at a press conference.
She’s taking it slow, however, and have asked GMA management to give her “time na unti-unti
( ma- adjust) ko ’ yung
sarili ko ( sa pagbabalik trabaho).” She will also be part of the remake of the hit 2005 Kapuso fantaserye “Encantadia;” as Ynang Reyna Minea, originally played by Dawn Zulueta.
“Encantadia” tells the story of a mythical land powered by four magical gemstones representing earth, wind, water, and fire. The gems are guarded by their respective keepers called Sangg’res, daughters of Ynang Reyna.
According to GMA Senior Vice President Lilybeth G. Rasonable, Marian was first choice for the role. “Convinced kami na talagang walang ibang pu-pwede mai- cast kundi si Marian,” she said.
“Marami pang binubuo sa pro
grama eh, so we’ll announce (further details) when we’re ready, we’ll air when we’re ready. It’s a very difficult show… so ayaw naming madaliin.”
Despite her excitement to work again, Marian admitted she has some trepidation, saying her comeback gives her mixed emotions.
“Masaya akong babalik na ako... pero may halong lungkot din. ’ Pag ini-
wan ko ’ yung anak ko ( para magtrabaho) iiyak talaga ’ ko eh, ang hirap,” she said.
She is thankful, nonetheless, that GMA still considers her a priority tal
ent. “Napakalaki ng konsiderasyon ng GMA sa ’kin para bigyan pa ’ko ng magagandang proyekto tapos at the
same time ( kino- consider pa rin nila ang) mga dapat kong gawin bilang isang ina,” she said.

Marian has adjusted well to being a first time mom. She and Dingdong can only be thankful where they are right now.
“Kapag tinititigan namin ’ yung anak namin parang ang sarap ( sa pakiramdam) na kumpleto kami. Ito ang totoong buhay sa ’ min, ang magkaroon ng ( kumpletong) pamilya,” she expressed.
A hands- on mom, she noted, “Wala kaming yaya eh kaya ako nagpapa
ligo kay Zia, lahat talaga. Halimbawa
naman wala ako, nandu’n si lola at mama para bantayan ang anak ko,” she said.
Dingdong, she says, is the ideal
partner. “Talagang all the way ’ yung suporta ng asawa ko sa ’ kin. Siya ’ yung nagsasabi na, ‘O, mag- rest ka naman. Gusto mo bantayan ko muna si Zia, magpa- salon ka muna.’
“Naiyak pa ako nu’ng isang beses, sabi niya sa ’kin, ‘Thank you sa pagiging mabuting ina para sa anak natin.’ Ang sarap lang na naa- appreciate ng asawa ko ’ yung ginagawa ko sa anak namin,” she added. Though she dreams of having many kids, Marian prefers to wait a couple more years before having another child.
“Gusto ko ’ yung age gap nila ’ yung tipong magiging ate na si Zia nu’ng susunod ( kong anak). Kasi ang hirap magka-anak ng magkakasunud-sunod… baka ’ yung anak ko hindi ko maalagaan ng mabuti,” she said.
Despite the attention her baby is getting this early, Marian will limit exposing her to public life for now.
“Ang liit pa ng anak ko, gusto ko munang palakihin siya… open naman kami sa mga
opportunities, pero siguro ’ pag one-year- old na siya,” she said. Has she ever thought of just focusing on being a mother and a housewife?
Marian answered, “Priority ko na mapalaki ko nang maayos ang anak ko pero at
the same time kailangan ko pa ring magtrabaho para sa future niya. Marami kaming pangarap eh.”

At the recent GMA Thanksgiving party, two of the Kapuso Network’s brightest stars, Marian and Maine Mendoza, met for the first time. They got along well.
“Bulungan lang kami nang bulungan, parang ang tagal na naming magkakilala,” Marian said.
Sharing her advise to the neo
phyte star, Marian said, “Syempre dahil hindi naman masyadong sanay si Maine sa (attention ng) tao, siguro nasha- shock siya ( sa
newfound popularity niya) so, sabi ko na lang sa kanya, ‘Ok lang ’yan, ganyan talaga ang buhay ( artista), enjoy mo lang.’” Marian is happy for Alden Richards, her co-star on “Sunday PinaSaya” and Maine’s love team partner.
“Sabi ko nga, bilog ang mundo. Kung ano ang ginawa mo, babalik at babalik sa ’yo. Nagtiyaga ’ yung bata, nagsikap… so deserve niya ’ yang ( kasikatan niya) kasi naghintay siya na mag- shine sa tamang panahon.”
