Lineman gets a shock after winning

- By EDD K. USMAN

His treacherous job as a lineman is over. A 37-year-old bettor from Manila bagged the 119-million 6/49 Lotto jackpot that was drawn last February 16 that, more or less, left the worker adept at handling live electrical wires in a shock.

“Tulala pa rin siya ng magpunta siya dito sa PCSO at halos hindi nagsasalita (He was still in shock when he came to the PCSO, he could hardly speak),” sources at the Philippine Charity Sweepstakes Office (PCSO) said Tuesday, a day after the lineman came to claim his winnings at the PCSO office.

The source said, the lineman already has plans to buy a house and lot, and a brand-new car while setting aside the rest of his winnings for future needs.

Suffice it to say, the multi-million peso jackpot winner’s days as a lineman are over.

He was the lone winner of the February 16 Super Lotto 6/49 that gave a 119,100,028 jackpot. He came to the PCSO office to cash in on the winning ticket with his wife and three children last Monday.

What made the win more incredible was that the lucky winner had bought only one ticket for the combination of 03-19-26-2933-39 which turned out to be the winning numbers.

According to the source, the lineman said the numbers were revealed to him in a dream which he later combined with the date of his birth.

PCSO General Manager Jose Ferdinand M. Rojas II handed him a check representing a lump sum of his tax-free winnings.

Meanwhile, Rojas emphasized that the PCSO cannot reveal the names of the winners of its Lotto games and other lotteries to maintain their “privacy, security, and confidentiality.”
