BULAWAN FUN RUN WITH 9,030 REGISTRANT­S

Jam-packed with 9,030 runner-registrant­s and the active participat­ion of the province’s schools and other individual­s, indeed the 2016 Bulawan Fun Run turned out well.

The foot race activity running at 3K and 5K distance categories is also the opening salvo of the 9th Bulawan Festival and 18th Founding Anniversar­y of Compostela Valley. With runners wearing red and yellow singlets, it’s a significan­t manifestat­ion of support to the provincial activities for the Bulawan Festival, the highlight of the festival anchored on the theme, “Stand Tall, Stand Proud, Comval @ 18!”

The advocacy run was indeed successful. As a gesture of gratitude and adding excitement, various prizes and items were awarded to the winners as well as the registrant­s during the raffle draw.

The winners received cash prizes and medals. For the 3K categories the first prize is 4,000, 2nd 3,000 3rd 2,000 both male and female while the 5K categories 1st prize is 5,500, 2nd 4,000, 3rd 2,500 both men and women.

For the 3K male category winners are: 1st place Raven Dela Peña, 2nd placeMark Daig, 3rd Winzer Andan and for the Female category:1st place Nova Queen Moralde, 2nd place Carrie Taray, 3rd place Allen Faith Mandaue. Both categories are below 12 years old. While the 5K category for men, 1st place Arlan Arbois, 2nd Jeorge Andrade, 3rd Elmer Bartolo and for women category, 1st place Judelyn Miranda, 2nd Monaliza Ambasa 3rd Joylyn Quirante.

There is also the awarding of special prizes for the youngest runners, oldest runners, family runners as well as the best dressed runners.

Gracing also the occasion is Dr. Josephine Robredo-Bundok who represents the vice presidenti­al candidate for the liberal party Hon. Leni Robredo. Governor Arturo T. Uy is grateful for everyone and to the sponsors who supported the activity. “We always look forward to the fun run spearheade­d by the provincial government ‘kay malingaw gyud mi.’ Aside from advocating wellness and health through this event, we were also able to help in our own little way,” Maritess Bustamante, a teacher of Banag-banag Elementary School, said.

The proceeds of the event are mainly for the repair of schools in the province and other infrastruc­ture needs.

Meanwhile, at the same time, the opening and the ribbon-cutting of the Agri-Tourism Trade Fair lead by Gov. Uy, Board member Tyron Uy and DA Executive Regional Director Remelyn R. Recoter followed. On March 8, the province celebrates its 18th Foundation Anniversar­y.
