FEU TO HOST CONFAB WITH MALAYSIAN, INDONESIAN UNIVERSITIES
Far Eastern University (FEU), in collaboration with Universiti Telknolgi Malaysia (UTM) and Universitas Bung Hatta (UBT) of Indonesia, will host Sustainability Initiatives: Case Studies in Malaysia, Philippines and Indonesia (SIMPI ) and Institute of Architecture and Fine Arts (IARFA) International Conference on Urban Studies (ICUS) on May 4 and 5.
Sharing the theme, “Sustainability and Urbanism, SIMPI and ICUS,” both endorsed by the Commission on Higher Education, issued call for papers until March 18.
Submitted and selected papers for ICUS will be considered to be published in SIYUDAD: Journal of Urban Studies, while selected papers for SIMPI will be lined up for publication in the special issue of Jurnal Teknologi, a Scopus Indexed journal .
ICUS conference sub themes are design, architecture and transformation, urban history and the environment, thirdspace and societal dimensions, conservation, modernity and threats, urban literacy and health, urban planning, growth and aspirations, urban economics and financing and governance, and policies.
SIMPI conference subthemes on sustainability include: buildings and facilities, education, environment, economic, cultural and social perspectives.
Dr. Jennifer Florida, FEU’s University Research director, revealed that a total of 58 papers were presented at SIMPI 2015. “We were satisfied with the publication index achieved last year. In fact, a number of researches written by Philippine scholars were published at Jurnal Teknologi. We are looking forward to more submissions this year from all three countries,” added Dr. Florida.
SIMPI is a collaborative effort of the three universities. Next year Universitas Bung Hatta (UBT) of Indonesia will host the 3rd SIMPI.
