INCINEMA FILMMAKER WINS AT LONDON FILMFEST
FILM DIRECTOR Carlo Jay Ortega Cuevas bagged the Best Director Of A Foreign Language Film award at the recent 2016 International Filmmaker Festival (IFF) of World Cinema in London.
According to a report by Donna Cueto-Ybanez for Eagle News Service, Cuevas’ win was for his work on “Walang Take Two,” the first fulllength film produced by the Iglesia Ni Cristo’s INCinema productions.
“To be given this award is a great blessing from God. The recognition the film received does not only apply to the production team and cast members of the film, but also to the Church Of Christ in its entirety,” Cuevas said in an interviewerview after the award ceremonies monies held at the Crowne ne Plaza in London.
Other Filipinos nominated foror the same award were Butch Maddul for “Kaleidoeidoscope World”d” and Luisitoo Ignacio for “Laut.”
Note, Cuevas also wrote “Walang Take Two.” It is his first st full- length feature after workorking mainly on n TV documentaries.es.
“I never expected this to o go so far. I was blessed with the opportunity to be part of this noble endeavor through the Executive Minister of the Church Of Christ, Brother Eduardo V. Manalo. And because of his guidance and support, although most of the members of the production team and cast are either first-timers in the field or amateurs, we were able to come up with an art piece that is filled with values anchored on the Christian teachings written in the Holy Scriptures,” Cuevas said in his speech at the awarding ceremony.
“Walang Take Two,” released in Philippine cinemas September last year, revolves around an ambitious but poor young Filipino who wants to make it big as an indie filmmaker.
INCinema productions is part of INC’s effort to mold the cinematic talents of INC members in the Philippines and abroad.
