CANINES FOR CHANGE
HEARTTHROB GERALD Anderson is inviting friends and family to attend a benefit dinner on March 7 at the Le Reve Events Venue in Quezon City, which also serves as a springboard to officially launch the Gerald Anderson Foundation, Inc.
The foundation is a non- profit volunteer organization serving the Philippines and the world committed to providing prompt response with specialized canines, highly trained personnel, and equipment that will aid and assist in the recovery of missing persons in times of need especially in calamities such as floods and earthquakes.
With the maxim, “train dogs, save lives,” the foundation wants to provide specialized canine training to search in the wilderness, during a disaster, on land and water, here and abroad; sharing skills needed to be an effective K9 search team leader, and to provide educational programs to private and governmental agencies to better un- derstand the capabilities of search dogs.
It was a deeply moving experience that motivated actor Gerald Anderson to start the foundation. “My first exposure to Mother Nature’s wrath came during a devastating flood that engulfed my own neighborhood in Quezon City. I did everything I could to help people being swept away by water,” Anderson recounted.
With similar disaster hitting southern Mindanao and Tacloban, he felt he need to do more to affect change thus the birth of the foundation.
