With the poor air quality in cities, air purifiers for the home are now a necessity

For me, our world can be a pretty scary place because of our lack of respect for our environment. We use and abuse our planet (cause!) and now, we are paying the price via pollution, global warming, water shortage, toxic food sources, just to name a few (effect!). Due to Earth’s state, I am always searching for solutions to make it a healthier place for my family.

Last year in Singapore, we were exposed to extremely hazardous air from Indonesia, the result of the burning of Sumatran forest for palm oil. It was a frightening glimpse into the future of my children—a world where people will count days before they can go outside because of the danger brought on by toxic air. We now have three air purifiers at home, in Singapore and Manila.

As you are probably aware, Manila’s air is highly polluted, especially if you live in the city. The Pollutant Standards Index (PSI) is usually in the red zone. You can check the air quality index for a clearer picture of the air you breathe in any given city.

Because I have three small children (including a baby), I feel that air purifiers are a necessity rather than a luxury. The lungs of babies and children are very immature, still developing. Being exposed to polluted air is detrimental to that development and so unhealthy for your children. It’s pretty unhealthy for the

rest of the family. Like I always say, you can’t control the air you breathe outside but, at least, you can help keep the air inside your home safe and clean. Doctors, in fact, recommend the use of air filters in highly polluted areas.

When I was selecting air purifiers last year, I was persuaded to go with Sharp because of its unique Plasmacluster Ion (PCI) Technology, which clears the air by dispersing positive and negative ions, which are similar to the ones found in nature. It neutralizes airborne pollutants like viruses, allergens, bacteria, and microbes. I chose the KCD60E model because it has special modes (Haze Mode/Rainy Mode/Child Lock Mode), a hepa (High Efficiency Particulate Air) filte that can remove 99.7 percent of particles that are 0.3 microns or larger, and a humidifying system. Unfortunately, we live in a world where this sort of appliances are essential because of the way we are treating the planet. Out of any of the appliances you should spend money on, air purifiers are definitely a safe and necessary investment for or your family’s future because cause I don’t think the air quality will get any better r in the coming years.

The Sharp Plasmacluster Air Purifier UV+ is available at An- son’s, Abenson, and SM Appliance Centers enters in the Greater Manila anila Area. www.sharp.php. ph , Facebook/SharpPhiliphilippines
