Trekking adventures to highlight Lang-ay Festival 2016

BONTOC, Mountain Province — The provincial government will highlight two separate trekking adventure activities that will feature historical and tourist destinatio­ns as part of the opening celebratio­n of the 49th Mountain Province Founding Anniversar­y and 2016 Langay Festival

Governor Leonard Mayaen is inviting local and foreign tourists to see the culture and tradition of Igorots to be presented during the celebratio­n of Lang-ay Festival and join the activities’ grand street dancing parade on April 9.

On April 2, scholars of the Mountain Province Student Financial Assistance Program (MPSFAP) of the provincial government studying in Bontoc and nearby municipali­ties, some provincial government employees and mountain trekking enthusiast­s will climb Mount Kalawitan North, the mountain range adjoining barangays Alab Oriente and Bontoc Ili

Francis Degay, officer in charge of the Provincial Tourism Office cited that participan­ts will pass through the following beautiful sceneries and historical landmarks of Palikot Aso, Kadchog Rice Terraces, Putot, Mount Kamaliton,Lamfagan Walwalitan ( sacred place) of Bontoc, Tablaan Fawi, Pinaching,Pusong (forest lake), Gadaad Walwalitan Alab,Maalam-am, Alab Petroglyph, Matey-ak Rice terraces, Ganga Pigpen, Ganga Stone House, Ganga Caves, Palali Rice terraces and Alab 1,000 steps,

Then, on April 4, the MPSFAP scholars from the municipali­ties of Barlig, Natonin and Paracelis will be accompanie­d by some provincial government employees and other enthusiast­s on a trekking adventure to Mount Patikking in Banao, Natonin.
