Citi names new ASEAN chief

Citi announces the appointmen­t of Amol Gupte as Citi Country Officer (CCO) for Singapore and Head of ASEAN, pending regulatory approval.

In this role, Gupte will oversee all of Citi Singapore’s businesses and operations, and be responsibl­e for the leadership of Citi’s ASEAN cluster of markets. Gupte will relocate from Hong Kong to Singapore and continue to report to Asia Pacific CEO, Francisco Aristeguie­ta.

He succeeds Michael Zink who is retiring after 28 years at Citi. Pending Gupte’s regulatory approval as Singapore CCO, Patrick Dewilde, Singapore based Head of Asia Pacific Markets and Securities Services, will serve as interim Singapore CCO.

Citi is one of the leading banks in the ASEAN with banking operations across Indonesia, Malaysia, the Philippine­s, Singapore, Thailand and Vietnam offering retail and institutio­nal banking to local clients and the Fortune 500 operating in ASEAN. Six of the banks 12 consumer markets are based in ASEAN and in the last year the bank has helped raise over $25billion for ASEAN clients from global capital markets.

A 27-year Citi veteran, Gupte was previously Regional Head of Treasury and Trade Solutions in Asia Pacific, which provides integrated cash management and trade finance services to multinatio­nal corporatio­ns, financial institutio­ns and public sector organizati­ons in Asia and across the globe in the over 100 countries Citi operates in.

Previously Gupte served in a number of senior TTS roles in North America, EMEA and Asia. He started his career with Citi in the Consumer Bank in India with roles in Sales, Product Management and Treasury.
