— Eleven suspected drug pushers are paraded through Tanauan City, Batangas, while wearing signs that read ‘ako ay pusher, ’wag tularan’ (I am a drug peddler, don’t follow my act) as part of Mayor Antonio Halili’s shame campaign activity against drug peddlers, dubbed ‘Flores de Pusher.’

TANAUAN CITY, Batangas – The iron-fist and unconventional style of governance of incoming President Rodrigo Duterte is slowly rubbing off on local officials.

Yesterday, 10 arrested suspected drug pushers were subjected to a shame campaign by parading them through the main roads of this city in what is called the “Flores de Pusher,” an adaptation of the May flower (Flores de Mayo) festival celebrated this month.

While the suspected drug pushers, bearing “Ako’y Pusher, Wag Tularan,” tags, were paraded in a manner like the “Flores de Mayo,” personnel of the Mayor’s Anti-Crime Group (MACG) of Mayor Antonio Halili served as their “escorts.”

Officials said Halili’s unconventional way of treating drug suspects is his way of underscoring his strong desire to combat the proliferation of the menace in the city.

Halili had earlier warned city residents involved in illegal drug trade to stop their nefarious activities as MACG personnel are determined to arrest them.

A week ago, some arrested drug pushers were paraded around the public market upon the instruction of Halili.
