6 cops test positive for drug use

ILOILO CITY— Six cops assigned in Western Visayas region tested positive for illegal drug use.

Senior Superintendent Gilbert Gorero, spokesman of Police Regional Office (PRO-6), did not divulge the names of the six non-commissioned cops but said that three of them come from the Iloilo City Police Office.

He also disclosed that one of those found positive for drug use is assigned at Antique Police Provincial Office, another at the Iloilo Police Provincial Office, and the third at the Regional Headquarters Support Group (RHSG) of PRO-6.

Las June, two policemen tested positive for illegal drug.

Police Chief Superintendent Jose Gentiles, PRO-6 chief, earlier warned of harsh punishments.

Meanwhile, PRO-6 registered 14,243 drug users and drug pushers who surrendered to authorities as of July 30.

Most of those who surrendered, 3,980, come from Iloilo province, while 2,069 surrendered in Iloilo City.

Two drug personalities were also neutralized by cops in the region.
