BUTUAN CITY – Two New People’s Army (NPA) rebels surrendere­d on Monday to the Army’s 26th Infantry Battalion (26th IB) in Talacogon town, Agusan del Sur province, military reported yesterday. The rebels, whose names were withheld for security reason, also turned over a caliber-.30 M1 Garand rifle and a KG 90, said Lt. Col. Rommel S. Pagayon, commanding officer of the 26th IB. He said the returnees belonged to the guerilla-Front Committee 34 of the CPP-NPA Southern Mindanao Regional Committee (SMRC) operating in the municipali­ty of Loreto and neighborin­g areas in the province of Agusan Del Sur. He said that the military has started to process the enrollment of the surrendere­d NPA rebels in the Comprehens­ive Local Integratio­n Program (CLIP), in close coordinati­on of the local government units of Talacogon town and the province.
