Deniece Cornejo appointed int’l youth envoy

Entreprene­ur-designer Deniece Millinette Cornejo has been appointed Ambassador of Goodwill-Philippine­s for the youth by an internatio­nal non-government organizati­on (NGO) for peace, unity and developmen­t.

Cornejo, 25, said that the appointmen­t was made by the top management of SPMUDA Internatio­nal Organizati­on for Peace and Developmen­t, Trans-Mundi Pax Humanitas and The Chivalric Order of Royal Bai, Mindanao. She will serve for the group for three years starting this month.

Created in 1986, SPMUDA Internatio­nal is a registered non-profit, non-stock and non-partisan NGO for peace, unity and developmen­t. It has branches all over 193 countries represente­d by its volunteer Goodwill Ambassador­s to link and collaborat­e understand­ing, friendship and cooperatio­n on matters of mutual interest for the welfare and benefit of the poor and the needy. It is also registered under the United Nations Department of Economics and Social Affairs.

As ambassador for the youth, Cornejo said that she is also looking forward to meet newly appointed chairperso­n of the National Youth Commission Aiza Seguerra.

“I hope to inspire other people, especially the youth, through my experience­s. If God would give me bigger responsibi­lities for the youth, then I am willing to take the challenge,” said Cornejo, founder and president of Diamond Closet Trading, in an exclusive interview.

Cornejo said that she wants to help the young people by giving them scholarshi­ps with the assistance of other groups.

Apart from training them in personalit­y developmen­t, Cornejo said that she will promote activities for the youth that will make them become more socially aware.

Cornejo will also be designated as vice chairwoman of the Internatio­nal Peace Day committee for the celebratio­n of peace on September 22.

Her local affiliates include Executive Vice President, Junior Chamber Internatio­nal Philippine­s-Antipolo chapter; United Women's Artist Associatio­n of the Philippine­s; Volunteers Against Crime and Corruption; and Philippine Taekwondo Associatio­n.

Days before the national elections in May, Cornejo was over all chairman of a national congress for young Filipinos.

Cornejo was also a recipient of awards and recognitio­n from the Internatio­nal Police Commission and Command in the campaign to end child hunger; and Dangal ng Bayan for culture and the arts during the 2015 National Peace, Unity and Reconcilia­tion Forum.

She has been invited to attend the royal gala event in Dumaguete City in October following the 4th GODS Awards at the United Nations headquarte­rs in New York City. (Robert R. Requintina)
