Actor-singer James Reid had just come from Greece with girlfriend and onscreen partner Nadine Lustre where they shot the upcoming ABS-CBN teleserye “Till I Met You.”

Directed by Antoinette Jadaone, the story touches on the topic of LGBT, something James has no problem with.

“I thought why not? It’s very daring for ABS-CBN to tackle that topic,” he said. “I feel kind of honored to be one of the actors who helps talk about the LGBT. I know a lot of gay friends, I have gay friends. (On the series) it’s really the characters, it’s nice the way they interact with each other (that moves the story forward). I’m really happy with the project.”

Coming from the very successful teleserye “On The Wings Of Love (OTWOL,)” James admitted feeling a bit pressured though highly confident of their next offering.

“‘OTWOL’ has, like, become a classic and no one can forget it. We set the bar high for ourselves, so a little bit of pressure,” he said.

There are rumors James might do a superhero role in the future, particularly Pedro Penduko. He is willing to do it if an offer comes along.

“I would love to do, like, a fantasy role eventually. We’ll see. I like the idea. It would be fun. I’ve always wanted to do supernatural roles, something that’s really fantasy,” he said.

The GF

James seems to be going along well with Nadine’s family. Last week, James and his sister Lauren joined the birthday celebration dinner of Nadine’s mother.

“Lauren just wanted to tag along that night. It was good fun. It was a very intimate family dinner,” he said.

Nadine has the approval of his family.

“My dad loves her, my whole family loves her. She gets along with my brothers and sisters,” he said.

Though the real-life couple were busy during their stay in Greece, they were able to sneak in some sightseeing and photography in their schedule. James, who is Fujifilm’s latest brand ambassador, is seen with a camera almost all the time on the teleserye as he plays the role of a wedding planner.

“It’s really beautiful (in Greece). It’s impossible to take a bad photo when it’s so beautiful there,” James said.

Among the many places he has visited around the world, Santorini and Mykonos are on his top list. “(The) photos of sunsets and Santorini (are amazing). Everyone claps during sunset,” he said.

Just shoot!

James is known for his unique and artsy skills, as shown on his Instagram account. He shared that it’s Nadine who brought him to photography. James started taking videos first before getting into photography.

“As of now I take photos of whatever I see, mainly travel photos. People say I have an eye (for beauty) but I just take photos of what I think is beautiful,” he said.

Architecture, landscapes, and of course, Nadine, are his favorite subjects in photography. His most favorite photo of Nadine is posted on his Instagram account. The photo, which he captioned “stunning,” shows Nadine in Lake Tahoe. “She takes more photos of me than anything else and it’s the same with me. She’s my favorite subject,” he said.

On who he thinks is a better photographer between the two of them, James said, “It’s debatable.”

At the press launch, Fujifilm also announced some of the new products from their instax and mirrorless cameras that James endorses. These are the X-A3 and X-T2 mirrorless cameras and the instax SHARE SP-2.

All for ‘war’

As President Rodrigo Duterte and the government continue the fight against illegal drugs, James expressed approval of the measures they’ve taken, particularly the inspections and undergoing drug tests. “I guess it’s all for the better,” James said when asked about it. Recall that PNP Chief Director General Ronald “Bato” dela Rosa met with club owners recently to secure their cooperation in the crackdown on illegal drugs. Authorized policemen reportedly will be inspecting some clubs in Taguig and Makati, a few of which several local celebrities sometimes go to. “Well, I love going to festivals. I love partying. But I guess I have nothing to be afraid of if you did not do anything wrong. So, why not?” he added. Duterte previously named officials, law enforcers and some personalities allegedly involved in the drug trade. The government also reportedly has a list of celebrities who are said to be into drug use. Robin Padilla, a staunch supporter of Duterte, hopes celebrities can have a dialogue first with the government before revealing the list. James echoed the sentiment.

“To think about talking to them first before, like, ruining people’s lives, I think I’m in more favor of that.”(With report from Jojo P. Panaligan)

Nadine takes more photos of me than anything else and it’s the sam e with me. She’s my favorite subject.
