‘Show Champion’ marks milestone in Manila

Korean TV music program “Show Champion” recently celebrated its 200th episode with a star-studded event in Manila.
Hosted by comedian Kim Shin-young and Super Junior’s Heechul, “Show Champion In Manila” featured K-pop boy groups BTS, BAP, VIXX, Astro, KNK and M&D (composed of Heechul and TRAX’s Jungmo), and girl groups AOA, Sonamoo, and Gugudan.
It was on Feb. 14, 2012 when the show premiered on MBC Music in South Korea. Since then, it has become a weekly destination for K-pop idols promoting their music.
The Manila show also marked the first performances in the country for AOA, Astro, Sonamoo and Gugudan, and the first overseas performance of KNK.
Nine-member rookie group Gugudan opened the show with “Wonderland” and “Diary” followed by five-member boy group KNK who performed “Knock” and “Back Again.”
Astro, composed of six boys, sang “Breathless,” “Polaris” and “Puss In Boots” and drew cheers when they played the “Pak Ganern” game.
On the other hand, Sonamoo performed “Round N Round” and “I Like U Too Much.” Heechul and Jungmo came up next performing “Close Ur Mouth,” “Ulsanbawi” and “Rokkugo” while AOA dazzled the crowd with “Heart Attack,” “Good Luck” and “Like A Cat.” VIXX, who made their comeback last month, wowed fans with “Fantasy,” “Dynamite” and “Love Me Do.” Boy band BAP rocked the house with “Bang Bang,” “No Mercy,” “Young, Wild And Free” and “That’s My Jam.” For the finale, BTS rendered “Fire,” “Boys with Fun,” “Save Me” and “Dope.” During the show, other K-pop groups also sent their congratulatory video messages for the show including EXO, Block B, BEAST, SISTAR, BTOB, Seventeen, IOI and NCT. “Show Champion In Manila,” produced by MBC Music and All Access Productions, will air in Korea on Sept. 14.
