Common railway station agreement signed Sept. 28
Officials will sign later this month an agreement that would make the common railway station between Metro Rail Transit Line 3 (MRT-3), Light Rail Transit Line 1 (LRT-1) and the upcoming the MRT Line 7 (MRT-7) a reality.
Department of Transportation (DoTr) Secretary Arthur Tugade told the House Committee on Appropriations during the agency’s budget hearing Friday that the signing will take place on September 28.
The signatories will include Ayala Corp. Chairman Jaime Zobel De Ayala, business tycoon Manny V. Pangilinan, San Miguel Corp. President Ramon Ang, and SM Investment Corporation Vice Chair Teresita Sy-Coson, the eldest daughter of SM magnate Henry Sy.
“What we have agreed upon is that all of them saw the importance of a common station and that there is difficulty in making people walk,” Tugade said, referring to the current “disconnection” between the railway systems.
