Drug suspect killed in QC, 2 cohorts arrested

-

A notorious drug suspect was slain while a police officer was wounded during an anti-illegal drugs operation in Quezon City Friday afternoon. Two other suspects were also arrested.

Police identified the slain suspect as Alex Acosta, also known as “Baba,” 38, of Mendez Road, Brgy. Baesa.

He is listed No. 27 on the drugs watch list of the Talipapa Police Station (PS-3).

Arrested were his live-in partner Charlegne Raagas, 37, and housemate Pedro Antonio Gajudo Jr, 49.

PO1 Doehler Salamangca, meanwhile, is now recuperating at the Quezon City General Hospital after sustaining a gunshot wound to the shoulder.

Operatives of the PS-3 at around 4:10 p.m. conducted an anti-illegal drugs operation in Ambuklao, Baesa after receiving reports from hotline 911 on Acosta’s illegal drug activities in the area.

The three suspects were busted in a pot session inside their house.

Police said Acosta tried to escape and scaled the roof and fired at Salamangca, who fired back.

After a brief chase, Acosta was fatally shot near a vacant lot.

Acosta and Salamangca were rushed to hospital where the former was declared dead on arrival.

Investigators recovered from Acosta two loaded caliber .38 revolvers, a mobile phone and nine sachets of shabu.

Meanwhile, Raagas and Gajudo, who are now detained at the PS-3, will be charged with violation of RA 9165, the Comprehensive Dangerous Drugs Act of 2002. (Vanne Elaine Terrazola)
