‘It wasn’t Bong Go’ – Dela Rosa

- By FRANCIS T. WAKEFIELD

Philippine National Police (PNP) chief Director General Ronald Dela Rosa Friday said that he was ready to name the close friend, who reportedly called him and asked him to reinstate the head of the Criminal Investigation and Detection Group (CIDG) in Region 8 tagged in the killing of Albuera, Leyte Mayor Rolando Espinosa Sr.

However, Dela Rosa said he will only do this if Senator Leila de Lima will name her source who claimed that the person was Presidential Management Staff (PMS) chief Bong Go.

De Lima had earlier disclosed in an interview that the “higher up” and “kumpare” that Dela Rosa was referring to as the one who asked him to reconsider the relief of CIDG Region 8 head Supt. Marvin Marcos, was Go.

Marcos was relieved for being implicated in the slay of Espinosa Sr. at the Baybay sub-provincial jail last November 5.

“Sabihin niya muna sa akin kung sino source nya, sabihin ko kung sino kumpare ko na kausap ko (If she will tell who her source is, I will tell the name of my kumpare (godfather/close friend),” Dela Rosa said.

When asked if that person was indeed Bong Go, Dela Rosa quipped “Basta meron ako’ng kumpare tumawag, hindi siya (Indeed, someone called me, but it was not him),” he said.
