Capiz tourism perks up

- By TARA YAP

The number of tourists visiting Capiz province is rising.

Data from Capiz Provincial Tourism and Cultural Affairs Office showed there were 114,907 visitors from January to September this year.

Provincial Tourism Officer Alphonsus Tesoro said many of the visitors wanted to taste the local cuisine. Capiz is known as the country’s Seafood Capital.

It also features what is believed to be the biggest bell in Southeast Asia, eco-tourism sites and pilgrimage sites.

Other factor that attracted visitors to Capiz is that it is ideal for hosting conventions, exhibitions and arts and cultural events.

There is also strong support for tourism initiatives by Governor Tony Del Rosario, who is continuing the prioritization of tourism that was started by former governor Victor Tanco Sr.
