#GoingPlaces...

appear like a printed website. Photos are shot and styled with a younger vibe. Articles are complemented with lists and tips.

The most drastic change was online as www.goingplaces.ph was launched. The online platforms of the title was also boosted (our inaugural cover got almost 100,000 views in FB!), videos were added, and lists to help travelers were provided.

Going Forward

As #GoingPlaces, the magazine and online platforms are segmented for clarity. Destinations are classified as “#Travelust”, restaurants and all foodrelated things are “#TableManners”, personality features are in the “#Convos” section. Our selection of columnists – from chefs such as Gigi Angkaw and top travel blogger Estan Cabigas – are now giving “#GoodVibes” while our portraits section is now called “#SnapShots”.

As we wrap up our second issue of #GoingPlaces, the positive effects are already being felt. Aside from our cover which garnered buzz, there is a drastic increase in our online followers.

#GoingPlaces is a proof that the printed material will not lose its significance in the digital age. There is still a different feeling upon seeing one’s photo in a printed paper. There is still a certain sense of nostalgia seeing one’s words printed on paper. And when you hold the entire #GoingPlaces issue, it may not give you answers to your questions like what Google does, but it will give you a sense of “direction” – with so many suggestions to enjoy the destinations we have featured.

Now, what then is the role of a travel magazine in this day and age? We give you the best of travel and in our own way, we guide you in your next adventures. But then, only time will tell what our roles will be. But for the meantime, allow our team to wish you good health, abundant fortune, and plenty of time to make your 2017 a year of #GoingPlaces!
