BORACAY ISLAND, Aklan (PNA) – The top official of the Aklan Jetty Port assured the safety of cruise shiop passengers ahead of the inaugural call of luxury cruise line Celebrity Constellation here on February 14, Valentine’s Day.

The management of the Aklan Jetty Port met with multisectoral agencies in Boracay on Monday to tackle the security preparation for the said event.

Port Administrator Niven Maquirang said that while security personnel in the island will get busy in securing the safety of summit delegates for the Association of Southeast Asian Nations (ASEAN) meetings next week, cruise visitors will not be neglected.

He said that inter-agency support is expected from security and emergency groups, as well as from tourism front liners in the island during the cruise ship’s visit.

Despite their limited stay, Maquirang said it is important to keep high standards for cruise visitors for they are mostly highend tourists.

He stressed that only an accredited tour agency is allowed to offer service to ensure the safety and quality of service given them.

Celebrity Constellation, which will bring 2,100 passengers, is one of the five cruise ships confirmed to dock in the island this February.

The luxury cruise ship will stay from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m.

MS Europa II and MS Seabourn Sojourn will have a return visit on February 15 and February 25, respectively.

Meanwhile, MS Crystal Symphonym, which is making its inaugural call, and the returning Seven Seas Voyager, will both arrive on February 28.
