Re-investigate Mamasapano

-

FBy ORTY-four Special Action Force (SAF) cadavers (executed and mutilated), with their families and the entire nation, are calling for justice. Now is the time for the Senate and Congress to re-open hearings on the Mamasapano massacre. Subpoenas served principal figures who played God in the operation. Notable are SAF commander Getulio Napenas, former PNP chief Alan Purisima, the Peace Process dragons – Miriam Coronel Ferrer and Teresa Ging Deles – and former President Noynoy Aquino. When necessary, Mar Roxas and PNP OIC Leandro Espina, and retired or still active AFP officers.

President Rodrigo Duterte must be commended for originally convening a “Truth Commission” limited to investigating the bungled government action, with MILF participation a separate and later issue. It would be great welcome, if Digong orders the PNP and the AFP to “open their books” and “tell all” — to include written communications, fund releases, saved text messages within the executive department, peace process office, assistants and personnel who have information. Part of the truth was exposed by Digong and Justice Secretary Vitaliano Aguirre, via print and electronic media, regarding details as to who should be held responsible for feeding the SAF into the mouth of death. The families of the SAF-44 victims are appealing to President Duterte not to suspend the creation and proceedings of the “Truth Commission.”

Former Senate President Juan Ponce Enrile is ready to volunteer as an act of patriotism to prosecute those culpable of treason. He would do well as a former justice, finance and defense secretary. Former Assemblyman and Governor Homobono Adaza, along with my father (former Senator Rene Espina), if offered, is willing to serve for P1 in behalf of all Filipinos. This would be a Luzon, Visayas, Mindanao Commission.

The mudslinging between Napenas and his former commander-inchief PNoy, bears observing, as the former is finally liberated from the shackles of his boss. More likely, the narration of Napenas bears credence and weight. After all, the real questions are: 1) Who has the authority to suspend the “chain of command” blindsiding DILG Secretary Mar Roxas and PNP OIC Leandro Espina from the SAF Operation? 2) Who has the power to revive PNP chief Alan Purisima from suspension, to be active in planning Mamasapano? 3) Who has the final say to authorize the go-ahead and funding for various PNP units for Mamasapano? The buck stops…

* * * PERSONAL: Thanks to PNP Cebu Provincial Director Senior Supt. Eric Noble of PMA Class 92 for the prompt service and response. Mabuhi!
