Defending champion La Salle faces another test when it tackles fellow unbeaten University of the Philippines (UP) today in the UAAP women’s volleyball tournament at The Arena in San Juan City.

Toting similar 2-0 win-loss records, the winner in their 4 p.m. confrontation will gain a share of the lead with idle National University.

The Lady Maroons are impressive in their first two games by scoring straight-set wins over University of the East (25-16, 26-24, 25-19) and Adamson.

But to beat La Salle, UP should raise its level of game several notches to keep their streak going.

Out to lead UP are the trio of Diana Carlos, Kathy Bersola and Nicole Tiamzon.

The La Salle Lady Spikers showed their readiness to defend their crown by outlasting two of the three teams fancied to unseat them.

After beating UST, 25-23, 16-25, 2514, 25-22), La Salle leaned on another fiery performance from Kim Fajardo, Kim Dy, and Joy Baron to beat Far Eastern University, 29-27, 25-22, 25-23.
