Treasures of Mindanao show
Treasures of south-central Mindanao will be featured in the showroom of the Department of Tourism in “Treasures of Sox” or Region 12 (SOCCSKSARGEN). It will promote the region’s products and also tourist destinations in Mindanao. Secretary Wanda Corazon Tulfo-Teo said: “As a destination, south-central Mindanao’s enchanting culture and traditions as well as its pristine nature and adventure features are ideal for millennials to visit.” Some of the products on display and for sale are T’nalak cloth and brassware, fashion accessories, native handicrafts and food like tuna chicharon, taro chips, chocolate tablea by Kablon Farms, crispy dilis, among others. According to DOT-12 Director Nelly Nita Dillera, since 2013, the growth rate among domestic visitors including foreign tourists like South Koreans, Americans and Japanese, increased by 85 percent. DOT accreditation of mandatory and secondary establishments also saw a 44 percent increase. (Betheena Kae Unite)
