Based on the final and official result of PhilRice, Region 7 garnered a total of 38,667 hashtags, ranking second in the nationwide campaign.

This is equivalent to 3,866.7 kilos of brown rice to be donated to charities.

Among the charities that have received sacks of brown rice at 25 kilos per bag were: CFIC Brothers Foundation (Liloan, Cebu), My Bonita Home for Girls (Talamban, Cebu City), Missionaries of the Poor (Talisay City), Don Bosco Boys HOme, Inc. (Liloan, Cebu), and the Missionaries of the Poor -Gasa sa Gugma, Inc. (Mabolo, Cebu City).

More brown rice will be donated to charitable groups based on the number of hashtags.

The general public is encouraged to continue eating brown rice.

Meanwhile, Salvador Diputado, the new DA regional director, attended the Orientation on Corporate Rice Farming Program Regional Program Management Committee (CRFP-RPMC) and Validation of Farm Service Provider’s (FSP) Commitment and Capabilities.

The meeting was the fifth in a series of nationwide orientations conducted together with the Senior Technical Action Group (STAG) of DA’s Central Office, regional program management and the FSP.

CRFP is a program that will help in supplying the rice subsidy for the Pantawid Pamilyang Pilipino Program (4Ps) of the Department of Social Welfare and Development (DSWD).

It also aims to help the farmers increase their income and have ready markets for their produce and ensures available, affordable and accessible rice for the 4Ps.
