UN citation boosts Iloilo’s image
ILOILO CITY – The Iloilo Business Club welcomed the inclusion of Metro Iloilo as one of the two sites for model metropolitan governance by the United Nations (UN).
“This reaffirms the efforts of the city and provincial governments of Iloilo,” said Lea Lara, business club executive director.
Earlier this week, members of Metro Cebu Development Coordinating Board (MCDCB) disclosed that Metro Cebu and Metro Iloilo were chosen during an investment seminar sponsored by World Bank in New York, United States last month.
Lara reiterated that the UN citation bolsters the image of Metro Iloilo in both governance and economic investments.
The administrations of Iloilo Governor Arthur Defensor Sr. and Iloilo City Mayor Jed Patrick Mabilog have adapted necessary policies in enticing investors as well as gradually addressing issues of urbanization.
Since 2010, the city of Iloilo and certain towns in Iloilo have welcomed multi-billion investments that were never seen in a quarter of a century.
Lara told Manila Bulletin the local governments have set up processes that not only benefited the business sector, but local residents as well.
