Dinalupihan honors 100 top taxpayers; La Union identifies tax delinquents
DINALUPIHAN, Bataan/SANTOL, La Union — Just like customers, there will be good taxpayers and delinquents. Recently, while Dinalupihan honored its top 100 taxpayers, the province of La Union identified the most delinquent of property tax payers.
In taking cognizance of their contribution to economic development, local leaders in Dinalupihan led by Mayor Maria Angela “Gila” Garcia has honored the top 100 taxpayers and top business establishments that contributed much to the progress of this strategic town.
During the post-Valentine dinner with the awardees, Mayor Garcia also led inauguration of the the newly-constructed R15-million Bulwagan ng Bayan, an air-conditioned facility that has multiple functions.
Meanwhile, Mayor Magno Wailan of Santol, La Union and Jonafel Guzmani, the municipal treasurer, are urging residents to promptly pay their real property taxes (RPT).
“There are a lot of delinquent taxpayers. But I told them that they should settle what is due for the municipal government because what they are paying in the municipality will be given back to them through basic services such as education for their children,” Wailan said.
Wailan said there are some problems in the lot ownership of some of the residents, particularly in the upland barangays, which are a hindrance in the payment of taxes. But Wailan said he already instructed the Assessor’s Office to resolve the matter.
