- By BERNIE CAHILES-MAGKILAT

After serving Davaoeños with its signature coffee drink for more than 8 years, Blugre Coffee said it is now ready to expand its franchises outside of its comfort zone and into Metro Manila.

Benjamin Cuaresma Jr. and Ms. Gloria Cuaresma, owners of Davao’s first specialty coffee shop, said Blugre will initially have three branches in Malacañang Complex, Taguig in Bonifacio Global City, and Taytay, Rizal.

“This development is in response to the many customers who’ve been clamoring for us to expand,” explained Cuaresma.

“We are happy that now we’ll be able to bring the Blugre Coffee experience to our new patrons in Metro Manila, hopefully soon, to other places.”

Cuaresma said its branches in Manila will continue to offer its unique Davao products with its famous Durian Coffeeccino. He said its unique proposition has made its coffee shop more attractive and sought-after.

Since 1998, Blugre Coffee has been making waves in Davao for its signature drink, the Durian Coffeeccino. It’s a concoction that has proven to be unforgettable to whoever has tried it.

Cuaresma noted that some Davaoeños living abroad will make it a point to drop by its coffee shops everytime they come home for vacation.

Aside from the Durian Coffeeccino, Blugre Coffee also offers flavorful espresso, latte and mocha, as well as delectable desserts like Choco Torte with Cream Sauce, Durian de Leche Cheesecake and Red Velvet Cake.

“Our coffee shop is a go-to destination of both Davaoenos and tourists. Because of its exceptional products, relaxing ambience and friendly service, Blugre Coffee is credited for boosting the coffee culture in Davao,” he said.

Blugre has been bestowed awards by National Shopper’s Choice Awards (where it is a Hall of Famer), AsiaPacific Shopper’s Institute which named it Best Coffee Shop in Davao, Shopper’s Choice Magazine, Essence Privilege Card, and the Asian Philippine Association of Marketing Professionals.

No less than world-famous boxer, Senator Manny Pacquiao and his wife Jinkee are owners of a Blugre Coffee franchise.

The celebrity couple has opened franchise stores in General Santos City.

Blugre Coffee’s franchise is flexible as it offers two formats: A counter or kiosk and a full store. The counter requires an area of at least 30 square meters, while the full store requires an area of at least 100 square meters.

Franchise fee and total investment are below the cost of similar franchise businesses. Plus, franchise owners have the distinction of owning a coffee shop that is proudly 100 percent Filipino.
