Matthias was presented another opportunity recently, that of being one of the judges on the new realitybased model search, “The Fiercest Of Them All” which premieres tomorrow, 9 p.m. on GMA News TV.
Along with stylist Bea Jocom and fashion designer Doggficher, the newbie felt it was a challenge he couldn’t pass up.
“For me, being in a new scene as I have never worked in this environment, it was a good stepping stone for me to see how it unfolds. To see how these girls, to see what type of coaching (is necessary). I’ve done some work before and I feel it. I feel they are so aggressive. You just have to do the work as professional as you can and just use your charm to be the best you can to execute and do the job.”
He felt his biggest challenge is learning the Filipino language.
“In any work I do here, I only know a little Tagalog so I’m taking lessons. But the other challenge is it is a lot of pressure when you know I’m not from this world. My parents don’t do this kind of thing. I’m the only one in the family who’s doing this. So I have to teach myself how to deal with pressure or stress,” he said.
He feels most comfortable doing showbiz stuff after working in a finance company for two years after earning his Fine Art s degree in Georgia, USA. “I love it though. It’s the stress that I don’t like is the numbers on the computer. I did that for four years,” he said.
As one of the judges of “The Fiercest Of Them All,” Matthias is looking for someone who is passionate.
“The number one thing is, their passion towards for the job that they have to do. So I see them as jobs. Each competition is a job. If you do it, if it’s risky like if you’ll do it with some animals or insects or something crazy, are you gonna scream or whine about it or you’ll gonna do it or execute it like it’s a job?”
As a judge, he wants “to spread the knowledge of fitness because I think it is very important and eating healthy. My demeanor is I am strict in that respect. You can talk to me and I’ll help you, guide you. I just try to boost their morale and positivity.”
