50 more NCR cops arrive in Basilan
ISABELA CITY, Basilan – The second batch of more than 50 policemen from Metro Manila, who are facing various charges, has arrived in this city yesterday afternoon to join the first batch of 54 police “scalawags,” who are now assigned with Police Task Force Basilan.
Basilan Provincial Police Office (BPPO) Director Sr. Supt Nickson Muksan said the new batch of more than 50 policemen will also be assigned to Police Task Force Basilan, which istasked with maintaining peace and order in the city.
Muksan said criminal activities and petty crimes were noted to have dropped in this city as a result of the presence of these policemen from Metro Manila.
He said local residents have likewise noticed that petty crimes, like snatching, hold-up, pick- pocketing, have dropped due to the presence of these policemen.
The BPPO is sharing an area inside the police camp in the village of Mensi in this city with Police Task Force Basilan.
According to Muksan he asked the policemen from Metro Manila to familiarize themselves with the place and terrain of each of the towns in this province since they will also be deployed in the different towns in the coming days. “
I told them they have to familiarized the terrain of every towns in the province because they will be assign in these areas in the coming days,” Muksan said.
At least five police officer, the highest-ranked among them two Chief Inspectors, were earlier brought to this city from Metro Manila as part of the police cleansing in the PNP organization.
Muksan also disclosed that the NCR cops could also be assigned in Abu Sayyaf Group (ASG)-controlled territories where they will conduct foot patrol as part of the disciplinary sanction meted on them.
