Robredo to accept Duterte decision on Marcos post
Vice President Leni Robredo said she will respect whatever the decision of President Duterte on giving former Senator Ferdinand Marcos Jr. a Cabinet post.
The Vice President’s spokesperson issued the statement as Ilocos Norte Governor Imee Marcos revealed that her younger brother is interested in working for the Duterte administration.
Imee Marcos, who went with Duterte during the President’s trip to the Middle East last week, said her brother is “dying to work” to work again in government.
The younger Marcos has been rumored as the possible replacement of sacked Interior Secretary Ismael Sueno, when the election ban on losing candidates expires next month, but Duterte has ruled out the possibility of appointing him to the post.
The ban prohibits candidates who lost in last year’s elections to hold any government post for a year.
Hernandez said Duterte should at least consider the credibility of his appointees.
Marcos, who lost the vice presidential race to Robredo, has a pending electoral protest against her before the Supreme Court, which is sitting as the Presidential Electoral Tribunal (PET).
