Adiversion road that will provide motorists an alternative to the often congested Daang Maharlika in Pulilan, Bulacan as well as the first segment of a diversion road of the Manila South Road in Sariaya, Quezon Province are expected to be completed by year’s end.

Department of Public Works and Highways (DPWH) Region 3 Director Antonio Molano Jr. said the 9.62-kilometer Pulilan-Baliuag Diversion Road project is currently being paved and should be ready before the end of the year.

Molano said the remaining embankment and concreting activities under Phase II of the diversion road project is 83 percent complete.

“We are certain that the whole stretch of Pulilan-Baliuag Diversion Road will be concreted before the end of the year. Its third and final phase which involves widening and construction of a 12.8 lineal meter bridge is also underway,” said Molano.

When completed, the new road will divert flow of traffic in Daang Maharlika using a new road that begins at PulilanCalumpit Road in Barangay Tibag, Pulilan near North Luzon Expressway (NLEX) and ends in Daang Maharlika in Barangay Tarcan, Baliuag, Bulacan, cutting through Barangays Tabon, Penabatan, Sta. Peregrina and Balatong B in Pulilan.

Likewise, DPWH Region 4A Director Samson Hebra said the 7.4-kilometer Sariaya Bypass Road Project is now 86-percent complete with works covering road opening, concreting, and slope protection in progress.

“With the current pace of implementation, we can possibly finish in the next few months the segment from Junction Manila South Road Daang Maharlika to Morong Bridge costing R181 million,” said Hebra said.

Hebra noted that Sariaya Bypass Road will ease the current traffic congestion by providing alternative access from Sariaya to Lucena City and its coastal barangays located within the influence area of Quezon Ecotourism Road.
