33 Metro Manila cops to be dismissed – NCRPO

- By AARON B. RECUENCO

At least 33 Metro Manila policemen will be dismissed from the service as part of the internal cleansing program of the National Capital Region Police Office (NCRPO).

Director Oscar Albayalde, NCRPO chief, said most of those who are on the dismissal list are rookie policemen who ironically refused to be subjected to the 45-day retraining program of the Metro Manila police leadership.

“We have already initiated termination procedures against them. Most of them are Police Officers 1 who have this habit of complaining just to make sure that they would not be subjected to retraining,” said Albayalde.

The official explained that they have recently instituted a policy wherein all new recruits will have to undergo a 45-day mandatory retraining program to introduce them to the policies and procedures of the PNP.

He said the move is a way of reinforcing the training program at the Regional Training Services (RTS) which happens to be lacking in terms of orienting the recruits on the life of a policeman.

“We noticed that these PO1s, after their training in RTS, lack the knowledge on the policies of the PNP. I don’t know why,” said Albayalde.

RTS is under the Philippine Public Safety College (PPSC) along with the PNP Academy. The PNP has been pushing to train all its personnel.

“We also noticed that these PO1s are usually the ones always involve in illegal activities. And we also noticed that these PO1s have this habit of complaining,” said Albayalde.

“This is something that we want to address. We want to address their mentality that it is heaven once they entered the PNP,” he added.

In fact, he said, 11 of the more than 300 personnel they subjected to retraining have filed complaints such as lack of food and unsuitable accommodation during the training program.

“Yet in the end, the reason behind their complaint is that they do not want to be subjected to retraining,” said Albayalde.
