Daniel Matsunaga is okay with ex-girlfriend Erich Gonzales despite their supposedly not-so-pleasant breakup
Daniel Matsunaga promised he would not turn his back on or walk away from Erich Gonzales, if and when he bumps into her.
The model-actor maintained he still has “huge respect” for Erich despite their bitter breakup. Indeed, he plans to greet her with a smile by then.
Asked how he was able to move on easily, Daniel said: “I spent time with my loved ones, my family. I’m really close to my family. They were there for me the whole time… You also need to seek out real friends and find stuff to do.”
Describing Erich as a “beautiful woman with a beautiful heart,” the 28year-old actor added, “If I see her, I’m going to be the same Daniel.”
The two, fondly referred to by fans as DanRich, were able to complete a US tour following their breakup last February but that was it.
According to Daniel, he and Erich are still not on speaking terms.
“Siyempre it’s sad, ’di ba? Sad lalo na for a lot of fans, who were expecting a lot from us. I apologize to them because you know, they were with us since the beginning,” Daniel said.
The Brazilian-Japanese looker admitted a planned movie involving him and Erich was already scrapped by the powers that be.
Though the possibility of friendship looks bleak at this point, Daniel is hopeful, believing it’s the “most important thing.”
Meanwhile, Daniel is being linked to “I Can Do That” co-contestant Arci Muñoz.
He doesn’t find anything wrong with it, actually. He even jested, “Bagay ba kami?”
Turning serious, Daniel said he is not closing the possibility of him and Arci getting to know each other better but he’d rather leave it to God.
“Arci is a beautiful girl, she’s very smart and she’s very nice,” he said. “We are spending a lot of time together now, so we never know what will happen next, basta ako my heart is open.” For now, however, he is focused on work. “Sayang ang opportunities. I believe naman God has that one person for you, so right timing lang. Work muna for now,” he said. Speaking of work, Daniel revealed he and Arci have an upcoming show in June. He is also set to fly in Brazil to represent the Philippines in a football league. “Mayroon na din namang proposal for movies pero hindi pa sure,” he shared. “I am also willing to do a teleserye ulit. So nag-aantay na lang naman ako, sobrang busy din ngayon kasi medyo puno ang schedule.”
Busy as he is, Daniel doesn’t forego his health, making sure to fit into his schedule some gym time.
At the moment, he is into CrossFit. He also plays football.
“I’m also dieting, less carbohydrates, but more meat and fiber,” said Daniel, who has opened up a health food delivery business dubbed the Healthy House.
With his toned body, killer looks and humble personality, most consider Daniel the epitome of the perfect man.
Avon’s Men’s Club thinks so to going on to name Daniel their ambassador.
At the launch, Daniel shares what he finds sexy in a woman.
“Sexy is someone who is confident, somebody who is smart. Somebody who knows how to push herself. When there is negative things going on or whatever it is around this person, she can stand out,” he said.
Daniel continued: “That’s being sexy for me, the way she speaks, the way she dress(es). That’s also sexy.” (With report from Stephanie Marie Bernardino)
