CEBU CITY — From a human resource development organization, the Cebu Educational Development Foundation for Information Technology (CEDFIT) has transformed into a full-time industry association to meet the demands of Cebu’s hyper-growing Information Technology-Business Process Management (IT-BPM) sector.

CEDFIT has transformed into Cebu IT-BPM.Organization (CIB.O), with a vision of making Cebu as the preferred IT-BPM location for higher value IT and IT-enabled services, developing and promoting further the strengths of Cebu and sustain the growth of IT-BPM industry driven collaboration, innovation, and excellence.

“The exponential growth of Cebu’s IT-BPM industry coupled with the heightened competition warranted the Board of Trustees’ decision to evolve CEDFIT from human resource development organization to a full-time industry association to sustain the industry’s growth and be ready for the challenges ahead,” said CIB.O chairman Francis Monera.

Cebu currently has 300 IT-BPM companies with 140,000 employees. The industry is aiming to capture higher value services such as IT outsourcing, health information management, shared services, engineering services, banking and financial services, software development, research and development, among others.

CIB.O complements the industry by providing not only human resource development but also marketing and infrastructure to further promote Cebu as the preferred IT destination for higher value services.

CIB.O is a consortium of IT-BPM companies, academe, support groups, government agencies, and civil organizations. It currently has 128 members who work together to create solutions and programs for the industry.

The new full-time industry association was launched during the 2017 Transformation Summit at the Marco Polo Plaza Hotel in Cebu City.
