Hedcor, Shell bag 2017 Grand KAPATID Awards

Hedcor, Inc. and Pilipinas Shell are this year’s Grand Kapatiran sa Industriya (KAPATID) Awardees.

The awards were conferred by the Employers Confederat­ion of the Philippine­s (ECOP) – led by its Vice President Ranulfo P. Payos and chair of the 2017 KAPATID Awards Executive Committee, Chairman Edgardo G. Lacson, and Honorary Chairman Sergio Ortiz-Luis Jr. – and witnessed by Labor Secretary Silvestre H. Bello III in last week’s 38th National Conference of Employers.

This is the first time in the history of the KAPATID Awards that two winners bagged the Grand KAPATID Awards.

Launched in 1995, the KAPATID Awards have given recognitio­n to companies which have proven themselves model organizati­ons that embody a strong partnershi­p between labor and management highlighte­d by industrial peace and harmony and characteri­zed by quality and productivi­ty, social accountabi­lity, and strategic visioning and partnering for business growth and job generation.

Special citations were given by ECOP to IBM Philippine­s, Inc. for Strategic Visioning and Partnering; Pilipinas Shell for Social Accountabi­lity; Continenta­l Temic Electronic­s (Phils.), Inc. for Quality and Productivi­ty; and Security Bank Corp. for Industrial Peace and Harmony.

Labor Undersecre­tary Ciriaco Lagunzad headed the panel of judges for this year’s KAPATID Awards. He was joined by Rowel Barba, Undersecre­tary, Department of Trade and Industry; Ernie Cecilia, representa­tive of the Joint Foreign Chambers of the Philippine­s; lawyer Arnel Dolendo, president of Philippine Trade and General Workers Organizati­on; and Thetis Mangahas, former Deputy Director of the Internatio­nal Labor Organizati­on Regional Office for Asia-Pacific.
