Hedcor, Shell bag 2017 Grand KAPATID Awards
Hedcor, Inc. and Pilipinas Shell are this year’s Grand Kapatiran sa Industriya (KAPATID) Awardees.
The awards were conferred by the Employers Confederation of the Philippines (ECOP) – led by its Vice President Ranulfo P. Payos and chair of the 2017 KAPATID Awards Executive Committee, Chairman Edgardo G. Lacson, and Honorary Chairman Sergio Ortiz-Luis Jr. – and witnessed by Labor Secretary Silvestre H. Bello III in last week’s 38th National Conference of Employers.
This is the first time in the history of the KAPATID Awards that two winners bagged the Grand KAPATID Awards.
Launched in 1995, the KAPATID Awards have given recognition to companies which have proven themselves model organizations that embody a strong partnership between labor and management highlighted by industrial peace and harmony and characterized by quality and productivity, social accountability, and strategic visioning and partnering for business growth and job generation.
Special citations were given by ECOP to IBM Philippines, Inc. for Strategic Visioning and Partnering; Pilipinas Shell for Social Accountability; Continental Temic Electronics (Phils.), Inc. for Quality and Productivity; and Security Bank Corp. for Industrial Peace and Harmony.
Labor Undersecretary Ciriaco Lagunzad headed the panel of judges for this year’s KAPATID Awards. He was joined by Rowel Barba, Undersecretary, Department of Trade and Industry; Ernie Cecilia, representative of the Joint Foreign Chambers of the Philippines; lawyer Arnel Dolendo, president of Philippine Trade and General Workers Organization; and Thetis Mangahas, former Deputy Director of the International Labor Organization Regional Office for Asia-Pacific.
