Horn’s camp gets jumpy

- By NICK GIONGCO JEFF HORN

The atmosphere over at Jeff Horn’s camp in Brisbane is getting a bit tense.

Two weeks before the undefeated Australian attempts to dethrone world welterweight king Manny Pacquiao at Suncorp Stadium, the 29-year-old Horn and his trainer Glenn Rushton are also becoming a bit paranoid.

“You have to make sure you don’t give away anything in training, when cameras are on you or people are using their phones when they shouldn’t be in training. We keep that under wraps,” Horn told the Sydney Morning Herald newspaper.

Rushton is also making sure what he’s been teaching Horn doesn’t leak out to the wrong hands, assures the underdog.

“Glenn is very professional in making sure people don’t do that. But we have some surprise for him (Pacquiao), that’s for sure,” added Horn.

As Horn is about to cool down in training, he admits that the magnitude of the event is starting to set in.

“It's draining but I’m doing everything I can at the moment. I’m doing the extra recovery I need to do to make sure I'm feeling bright and ready for the next day,” who has a 16-0-1 winloss-draw record with 11 KOs.

Over in General Santos City, Pacquiao is likewise gearing towards a frenetic finish in his buildup.

“We are slowing down but Manny’s getting there,” said Hall of Fame trainer Freddie Roach, who will join Pacquiao and the entire team on a sevenhour and 15 minute flight to Brisbane on Saturday morning (June 24).
