7.6% of applicants pass PNP exam

- By CHITO A. CHAVEZ

Two-thousand-twenty-six (7.63 percent) out of the 26,561 applicants passed the Philippine National Police (PNP) entrance exam conducted by the National Police Commission (NAPOLCOM) April 23 in the various testing centers in the country.

NAPOLCOM vice chairman and executive officer Atty. Rogelio T. Casurao said the commission released the partial list of successful examinees in the PNP entrance and promotional examinations (Police Officer (PO) and Senior Police Officer (SPO) categories only).

He added that out of the 6,634 who took the PO exam, 2,440 (36.78 percent) passed while 2,648 (33.87 percent) out of the 7,819 examinees hurdled the SPO exam.

The results of the Police Inspector and Police Superintendent examinations would be released soon.

According to Casurao, the overall passing rate of 7.63 percent in the PNP entrance examination is significantly lower compared to last October 16, 2016 exam passing rate of 11.57 percent.

“The low passing rate in the entrance exam may be attributed to the Commission’s continuous upgrading of standards in its police examinations in line with its sustained effort to professionalize the PNP by ensuring that only the best and most qualified individuals are admitted in the police service,” Casurao said.

Casurao said the list of successful examinees would be posted at the NAPOLCOM central office located at the DILG-NAPOLCOM Center, NAPOLCOM Bldg., Edsa Corner Quezon Avenue, West Triangle, Quezon City, and could be viewed at the NAPOLCOM website at www.napolcom.gov.ph.
