Capiz MSMEs prepare for ASEAN
ROXAS CITY – Department of Trade and Industry (DTI) Provincial Director Ermelinda Pollentes spelled out the seven key elements needed by Micro Small and Medium Entreprises (MSMEs) to enhance their productivity and profitability to be able to survive and compete in the modern age.
Pollentes was apparently referring to a single market created by the Association of Southeast Asian Nations (ASEAN) to enable an easier movement of goods, services, investment, capital and people across the region.
“As the competition becomes borderless, so also the opportunities for those who are ready to take on the challenge of making Capiz known in the global arena,” she said. These seven Ms are: Mindset – paradigm shift towards and entrepreneurial attitude
Mastery – the necessary competencies MSMEs need
Mentoring – coaching and mentoring of industry experts and large corporations on different aspects of business operations
Markets – how markets are made accessible and the various tools that can help MSMEs gain footing in the local and international areas
Money – financing schemes that MSMEs can further explore and access
Machines – access to appropriate machines and technology
Models – choosing the right business models that can help upgrade, boost productivity and improve marketability of products and services.
These key elements are underscored in this year’s MSME Week theme “7Ms Towards A Shared Prosperity for ASEAN MSMEs.”
Pollentes sees a great potential for success among driven Capiceño entrepreneurs “as they will soon reap the harvest of their sacrifices and determination.” (PIA)
