No parking along Leyte highways

- By NESTOR L. ABREMATEA

PALO, Leyte – The Department of Public Works and Highways (DPWH) Leyte First Engineering District Office has banned parking along the national highways in the first district of Leyte.

District Engineer Johnny M. Acosta said he has three personnel deputized by the Land Transportation Office (LTO) in Eastern Visayas to enforce the parking ban.

Acosta said no-parking signs have been put up along the highways.

Presidential Decree No.17 prohibits the use of a national highway as a parking area.

Acosta said they have coordinated with the local government units in Leyte to help them enforce the no parking rule.

He said since the highways in Leyte's first district have been widened to speed up traffic flow especially in the town of Palo.

In his State of the Nation Address (SONA) last month, President Duterte ordered various government agencies to intensify the no-parking drive in Metro Manila and other regional centers in the country.
