LTO to probe Angkas mishap
The Land Transportation Office (LTO) is set to summon the motorcycle rider and the driver of a sports utility vehicle (SUV) who figured in a road mishap in Nagtahan, Manila on July 15 that seriously injured the back rider.
Alejandro Cajano, 23, the motorcycle back rider who booked the ride using the Angkas app is still in comatose condition.
LTO chief and Transportation Assistant Secretary Edgar Galvante wants to dig deeper on what transpired in the road accident.
He also wants to uncover any violations that might have been committed by both parties with regards to their licenses and registrations.
However, Galvante maintained that the LTO had no jurisdiction over Angkas app.
Galvante also appealed to the riding public not to solely consider their comfort or convenience but also their safety and protecting when riding public transport.
"Hindi ko naman sinasabing 'wag kayong sumakay diyan but the thing is consider your safety when choosing your mode of transportation (I am not saying that you should not patronize that public transport but the thing is you should consider your safety when choosing your mode of transportation)," he added.
Earlier, Angkas denied any liability for the accident saying that they just facilitated in the booking of the ride.
