Anti-drugs war continues – DU30; Ozamiz mayor, 14 others killed
MALACAÑANG has confirmed the continuation of an intensified anti-illegal drugs campaign against local officials and other personalities.
Watch out, local drug lords and involved officials. Here comes the long arm of the law!
*** “The administration vowed to intensify the illegal drugs campaign,” Presidential Spokesman Ernesto Abella said on the death of Ozamiz City Mayor Reynaldo Parojinog and 14 others in separate police raids in that city.
“The Parojinogs, if you would recall, are included in PPRD’s list of personalities involved in illegal drugs,” Abella added.
*** Reports said local drug lords resurrected their illegal drug trade in many areas when the police and the military got busy with the Marawi siege and other problems.
As usual, when the cat is away, the mouse will play. *** The police reported the killing of Reynaldo “Aldong” Parojinog Sr. and 14 others, including his wife and his brother who is an incumbent provincial board member, in a series of raids conducted on their houses and other properties in Misamis Occidental last Sunday.
Campaign intensified, as promised by DU30.
*** Chief Supt. Timoeteo Pacleb, director of the Northern Mindanao regional police, said one of the operations also resulted in the arrest of Ozamiz City Vice Mayor Nova Parojinog whose house is only a few meters away from his father’s.
The police must have tagged it Oplan: Like Father like Daughter.
*** The police recalled that the vice mayor had previously gone to Camp Crame in Quezon City to clear her name on President Duterte’s revelation that she and her relatives were involved in the proliferation of illegal drugs in Misamis Occidental.
Question asked of her: Lady, what transpired in between? *** The police recalled that at least six search warrants were served by the Criminal Investigation and Detection Group (CIDG) and operatives of the Ozamiz City police for the properties of the Parojinogs around 2:30 a.m. Sunday.
Armed with warrants, armed with guns.
*** “Our personnel were met with gunfire when they were about to enter the house of the mayor. This led to the gunfight,” said Pacleb.
The usual explanation: “Nanlaban, eh!”
*** Pacleb said that aside from Parojinog and his wife Susan, also killed were Parojinog’s brother Misamis Occidental Octavio Parojinog and some of their security personnel, some of whom belonged to the Barangay Peacekeeping Action Team (BPAT).
*** The Parojinogs were earlier mentioned by the President as included in the list of narco-politicians in the country. The clan, however, denied this.
A fatal denial .Tsk-tsk! *** President Duterte said earlier that his drug crackdown will be unrelenting despite criticisms on soaring death toll and alleged rights abuses. “The alternatives are either jail or hell, Duterte warned.
