In solidarity with Msgr. Lagarejos

- By FR. BEL R. SAN LUIS, SVD

IAND some SVD confreres who know Monsignor Arnel Lagarejos, a friend of mine, are shocked by the alleged accusation against him.

We deeply sympathize with him and are in deep pain and solidarity over the harrowing experience he is going through now.

*** As the official statement of the Diocese of Antipolo rightly puts it: “Let us refrain from issuing unnecessarily comments that might worsen the situation.”

The statement adds that the diocese assures the public “that we respect the necessary procedures as provided by law in order to further investigate the matter.”

*** Let us pray that the truth will come out and pray, too, that Msgr. Lagarejos will overcome this most difficult test and tribulation he is going through.

*** THANK YOU. I am thanking the Marriage Encounter Foundation of the Philippines (MEFP) for choosing me as one of the awardees of the Lifetime Achievement Award held last July 29 at the UP Bahay ng Alumni, Diliman, Quezon City, during its General Assembly.

*** The award was presented “in gratitude for guiding, inspiring, and enriching the spiritual lives of Marriage Encounter communities as spiritual director and team priest and contributing significantly in the growth of the MEFP.”

*** I thank Romy-Ofie Diuco, chair couple, MEFP Lifetime Achievement Awards, Robert-Tinette Aventajado, MEFP president couple, Fr. Ruben Tanseco, SJ, founder and national spiritual director, and incoming spiritual director Fr. Domie de Guzman, SSP.

*** INDIGENT SICK. You will not bring your wealth with you to the next life. Why don’t you leave some behind to the poor and less fortunate?

*** I am appealing on behalf of some indigent sick we are helping like Dante Cabansag and Fr. Ruben Mamuad, SVD, who are undergoing hemodialysis thrice weekly. There are also an indigent sick of cancer Stage 4, and others afflicted with asthma and TB.

*** Remember: For every charitable act, God will reward you. “Anyone who gives you a cup of water to drink in My name will surely get his reward” (Mk 9:41).

*** GOD BLESS — the following charitable people who responded to my appeal: DINDIN LATORRE, WILLY-LINA ONG, an anonymous CHINESE-FILIPINO DONOR, GERRY “MR. FREEZE” SANTOS,

TRES ROQUE. ***

Others who wish to help may e-mail me at: belsvd@gmail.com.

*** THE LIGHTER SIDE. Three sisters aged 92, 98, and 100 live in a house together. During breakfast, the eldest said, “While sitting on my bed, I don’t know if I’m going to sleep or just woke up.”

*** Second sister: “When I stop at the stairway, I don’t remember if I was going up or going down?” The youngest said: “Thank God, I’m not that forgetful and hope I won’t become one. Knock on wood.” And she knocks on the table.

Then she says, “Excuse me, somebody’s knocking at the door.”

*** REFLECTION: We all grow old and leave this world sooner or later. What work of charity have we done? ***

ST. JUDE. Got a serious problem with money, studies, sickness, or family relationship?

*** Today, FIRST Thursday, join us in our novena to St. Jude Thaddeus known as the Saint of the Impossible, at the Divine Word Shrine, Christ the King Seminary, on E. Rodriguez Boulevard, QC, after the 6 p.m. mass.

A healing prayer and anointing with holy oil will follow.
