Bilibid guard busted for shabu
Department of Justice (DOJ) Secretary Vitaliano Aguirre II has ordered the National Bureau of Investigation (NBI) to investigate the New Bilibid Prison (NBP) guard who was caught trying to smuggle illegal drugs into the national penitentiary.
“DOJ will not tolerate these acts of our people,” Aguirre said in a statement.
“If a crime has been committed, it will not go unpunished,” the Secretary stressed.
Meanwhile, Aguirre has instructed the NBI to “investigate further and file appropriate charges.”
The arrested NBP guard was identified as Prison Guard 1 (PG1) Ernesto Dionglay Jr.
A sachet of methamphetamine hydrochloride, locally known shabu, weighing 100 grams was found from his possession.
Dionglay was arrested at around 9 a.m. Thursday.
Members of the Philippine National Police-Special Action Force (PNP-SAF) were conducting a body search on Bilibid employees at the gate of the maximum security compound, where Dionglay was busted.
