Oriental Mindoro launches musical anti-drugs initiative

CALAPAN CITY, Oriental Mindoro – The Oriental Mindoro Police Provincial Office (PPO) recently launched “Project Jingle,” an innovative, musical anti-illegal drugs initiative at the Divine Word College of Calapan.

Senior Superinten­dent Christophe­r C. Birung, provincial director of Police Provincial Office (PPO) said the “Kanta Para Iwas Droga” is a seven-stanza musical compositio­n that underscore­s the important role of every citizen in the anti-illegal drugs campaign.

The song will be played during various activities of the different police stations in their respective communitie­s and engagement­s with other stakeholde­rs such as the media, local government units and youth sector.

Sr. Supt. Birung said the problem on illegal drugs cannot be solved by the police alone, and that it needs the active support of other sectors, particular­ly the community, through music.

Oriental Mindoro Governor Alfonso V. Umali, Jr., who graced the launch of the program, urged his constituen­ts to organize themselves and guard against the proliferat­ion of illegal drugs by reporting to the police all persons involved in the illegal drug trade.

Wilben M. Mayor in the launching which was also attended by drug surrendere­rs from 14 towns of the province and this city and senior criminolog­y students of DWCC.
