Negros quiz bee kicks off this month
DUMAGUETE CITY – The Negros Island Battle of the Brains (BOTB) for junior and senior high school students kicks off this month with elimination rounds scheduled in five venues.
Elimination for the regional science trivia contest will be held in Bacolod City on August 7, Bago City on August 9, Kabankalan on August 11, Dumaguete City on August 15, and Bais City on August 17.
In a media release Wednesday, Energy Development Corporation (EDC) encouraged the youth of Negros to join the quiz bee or cheer on their teams.
There are 35 schools in Negros – two universities, five colleges, and 28 high schools.
Six of the schools specialize in science education and their teams have signed up for the semifinals.
Each team is composed of two student contestants and a faculty adviser.
Following the theme, “Renewable Energy for a Brighter Future,” the questions will tackle renewable energy, the environment, biodiversity, climate change issues and policies, and current events related to these topics.
The same topics have at one time or another been featured in the Positive Energy Facebook page.
