Duterte to honor top cops today

President Duterte will lead today’s Police Service Anniversar­y which will highlight the awarding of policemen with distinguis­hed records in the anti-drugs war and the crisis management in Marawi City.

Chief Supt. Dionardo Carlos, spokesman of the Philippine National Police (PNP), said the Chief Executive will personally honor five policemen who are actively involved in the ongoing gunfight with the Maute terror group in Marawi City.

The awardees are Sr. Supt. Rolando Anduyan, deputy regional director for Operations of the Autonomous Region in Muslim Mindanao (ARMM); Supt. Rex Arvin Malimban, deputy chief of the Logistics Division of Special Action Force (SAF); and, Supt. Lambert Suerte, commanding officer of the Rapid Deployment Battalion of SAF.

Two non-commission­ed officers will be awarded for their participat­ion in Marawi City crisis, namely, SPO1 Erwin Garalde, of the 84th Special Action Company of SAF; and, SPO1 Jethro Amengan, senior terrorist operative of the 83rd Company of the SAF’s Rapid Deployment Battalion.

Aside from Marawi City-related awards, Carlos said some officials will be cited for their active involvemen­t in the campaign against illegal drugs.

Leading the anti-drugs related awards is Ozamiz City police director Chief Insp. Jovie Espenido for his role in the reduction of drugs use in Albuera, Leyte, and Ozamiz City.

The heads of the three top performers in the campaign against illegal drugs will also be awarded— Director Oscar Albayalde, of the National Capital Region Police Office (NCRPO); Chief Supt. Aaron Aquino, of the Central Luzon regional police; and, Chief Supt. Mao Aplasca, of the CALABARZON (Cavite, Laguna, Batangas, Rizal, Quezon) regional police.

Sr. Supt. Chiquito Malayo will be honored for the performanc­e of his unit, the Counter-Intelligen­ce Task Force which runs after scalawag policemen.

Thirteen police units will also be cited and 10 other policemen will receive individual awards.

The PNP celebrates Police Service Anniversar­y every 8th of August to Celebrate the founding anniversar­ies of its forerunner organizati­ons--the Philippine Constabula­ry, establishe­d in August 8, 1901 and the Integrated National Police activated on August 8, 1975.
