Bananacue vendor crowned beauty queen

LIBUNGAN, North Cotabato – A 19-year old banana cue-making entrepreneur was crowned Mutya ng North Cotabato 2017, a beauty and talent pageant forming a major highlight in the annual foundation anniversary celebration and Kalivungan Festival of the province. Krislyn Jabonero, a resident of nearby Midsayap town, also won the special awards for Best in Production and Best in Long Gown during the Pageant Night at the municipal gymnasium here on Monday. Jabonero in some parts of pre-contest interviews by organizers proudly acknowledged her being a daily sight at the vicinity of the Midasayap municipal hall where she maintains a stall for making and selling banana cues to subsidize her schooling and augment her poor family’s meager income.
