Brewing cyclone may bring flooding, landslide over N. Luzon – Pagasa
The Philippine Atmospheric, Geophysical, and Astronomical Services Administration (PAGASA) on Wednesday warned of possible flooding or landslide over Northern Luzon due to a brewing cyclone east of Cagayan Valley.
PAGASA estimated the location of the LPA at 85 kilometers east of Aparri, Cagayan before Wednesday noon.
The weather disturbance was expected to cross Northern Luzon and bring moderate to occasional heavy rains with isolated thunderstorms over Northern Luzon.
Cloudy skies with moderate rains and possible occasional heavy rains, gusty winds and lightning due to thunderstorm will be experienced over Batanes, Cagayan, Isabela, Nueva Vizcaya, Quirino, Abra, Apayao, Benguet, Ifugao, Kalinga, Mt.Province, Ilocos Norte, Ilocos Sur, La Union, and Aurora.
Meanwhile, light to moderate rains with possible heavy rains and lightning due to thunderstorms will affect the northern portions of Central Luzon.
Partly cloudy to cloudy skies except for isolated light to occasional heavy rains, gusty winds and lightning will prevail over Metro Manila and the rest of the country.
PAGASA said the LPA was expected to traverse Northern Luzon on Wednesday (Aug. 31) but will re-emerge over the western coastline of Luzon this Thursday morning (Sept. 1).
It is likely that the LPA will develop into a tropical depression within 36 hours.
