Furthermore, TMP is localizing additional press parts on top of the 50% total body shell weight requirement under CARS.
TMP is pushing its body shell localization to 57% with the local production of side member panels, the largest press parts of a car. These localization projects were the highlight of TMP’s exhibit at the 1st PhilAPEX.

In his keynote speech, DTI Secretary Ramon Lopez said “there have been encouraging developments in the program, specifically in new parts making” and that these are the kinds of investments that the Philippines needs. Sec. Lopez concluded by saying that the benefits of the CARS program should cascade deeper into the SME sector and encourage more intensive B2B relationships between PCMs and local carmakers.
TMP’s showcase also featured parts projects of four suppliers that qualified under the CARS program as participating parts makers, namely Technol Eight Philip- pines Corporation, Toyota Boshoku Philippines Corporation, Manly Plastics, Inc. and Valerie Products Manufacturing, Inc.
